Held at the FOX Sports 1 Dome within the International Motorsports Hall of Fame complex at the Talladega Superspeedway, Race Fever blends a BBQ dinner by Williamson Bros. BBQ Sauce, entertainment, live and silent auction, NASCAR legends like Darrell Waltrip, Ned Jarrett, Bobby Allison and Phil Barkdoll with today’s NASCAR Sprint Cup, NASCAR Xfinity Series and ARCA drivers who provide interviews, autographs and items, all adding up to a high-energy super-event.
Race Fever began in 1986, when the late Bill France, Jr., former NASCAR Chairman, organized the first event to benefit children and adults served by AIDB. The event has come a long way since its beginnings on the football field at the Alabama School for the Deaf when it initially raised $12,000. Through the continued support and coordination between the racing community, AIDB and Talladega Superspeedway, Race Fever has grown steadily to raise over $4.2 million for AIDB Foundation.
Race Fever is the largest source of unrestricted funds for the AIDB Foundation, the private fundraising arm of the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind. Through five campuses in Talladega and eight regional centers throughout Alabama, AIDB serves thousands of children and adults who are deaf, blind and multidisabled each year.
